Architect and installation artist Elin Strand Ruin in collaboration with architect Klas Ruin/ Spridd, based in Stockholm, created Heart of Darkness for People’s BunkerLove 2013, which is a spatial interpretation of the front and inner rooms of a cannon bunker of the type Regelbau M272, located in the Furreby bunker battery near Løkken, on the western coast of North Denmark.. It was created ,  It was a huge work to bring the bunkers inner rooms outside of the bunker itself, and it required gracious aid of numerous assistants. It was made with cast iron and fishing net and was exhibited on the beach in July and August. Elin’s presentation here. Architect and artist who is trained in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, University of London, the Royal College of Art in Stockholm + has an MA in Architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Her work is operating in the interface between art and architecture in the pub­lic space and explores how reinterpretation of artifacts/activities can function as catalysts for social and architectural change. The artistic practice has in a se­ries of collaborative works elaborated with the private home with an interest in female social networks.

Elin Strand Ruin has exhibited in Europe and Sweden during the last 10 years. Recent projects: My Kitchen, produced and showed at the city planning and art project Smack bang at the People’s Port/H+ in Helsingborg, Sweden, 2011; Knitting House in collaboration with Annika Enqvist/The New Beauty Council at Husby Konsthall, 2010, at RAC/Reykjavik Art Centre, (I)ndependent People, 2012 and at Arkitektur- & Designcentrum, Stockholm 2013; Heart of Darkness an art project developed in collaboration with Klas Ruin and the Architecture office Spridd for the Art project BunkerLove, Løkken, North Denmark 2013. The Kitchen at Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm, 2014, in collaboration with Spridd and 4CYCLE.

The architectural practice Spridd (Klas Ruin, Ola Broms Wessel) work, in practice and research, with new collective functions and actions in suburban locations. During the autumn 2013 Spridd will publish the book The Million program – the city of the future. The office is at present working with a new Mosque in Rinkeby and recently received first price in the Swedish part of the Nordic competition Nordic Built Challenge with the project Fittja People’s palace for Botkyrkabyggen.
